Process 1

Non-technical examination

The main purpose of the NTO is to provide recommendations for planning subsequent clearance operations or removing areas from the list of potentially hazardous areas or suspected hazardous areas.

The LTA is the first stage of humanitarian demining, which provides insight for planning subsequent clearance operations or removing areas from the list of potentially hazardous areas or suspected hazardous areas.

As part of the NTO, our actions include

Assessment of the risk of explosive hazards in certain areas;

Removing areas from the list of contaminated or suspected contaminated areas where there is no longer a risk of mines and explosive remnants of war;

Identification of socio-economic factors and other factors that may influence the prioritization of further actions.

Based on the information gathered, our tasks also include

classifying territories by hazard status;

identifying and marking the boundaries of hazardous areas;

collecting information on incidents and accidents in the area where the RTO is being conducted;

Developing strategies for effective clearance of areas contaminated with explosive ordnance.

During the RTO, we avoid the practical use of demining equipment and direct entry into hazardous areas, but if necessary, we use demining equipment to lay safe access routes to the area to be surveyed.

Based on the information collected during the NTO, we:

– Classify territories by hazard status;

– Identify and mark the boundaries of hazardous areas;

– Collect information on incidents and accidents in the area where the RTO is conducted;

– Develop strategies for effective cleanup of areas contaminated with HNS.
