At the request of the “Novohusarivske” Farm, specialists of the “Atom” Charitable Foundation conducted a non-technical survey of an agricultural land plot with a total area of 43.28 hectares, located within the villages of Nova Husarivka and Shchuchivka, Balakliia community, Izium district, in the Kharkiv region.

On the territory of Nova Husarivka village, active hostilities have been taking place since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the village was under constant shelling by Russian occupiers, and from March 2022, for about six months, it was under temporary occupation. Access to the territory was limited.

During the survey, our specialists took all necessary measures to conduct analytical and practical work: a survey of the population and local authorities was conducted, evidence was collected, and information analysis was summarized, as well as a visual inspection of the territory and aerial reconnaissance using a drone.

As a result of the thorough non-technical survey, remnants of “Grad” MLRS projectiles, boxes for transporting anti-personnel mines, as well as numerous craters, abandoned positions, and trenches were found on the site. Our specialists also took into account the fact that at a close distance from the surveyed area, there are already confirmed dangerous zones based on the results of previous surveys – a minefield and territories contaminated with cluster munitions.

Based on all the above-mentioned factors and direct evidence at the time of the survey, the site was identified as presumably contaminated with explosive objects and munitions remnants. After the NTS procedure, the territory was marked by placing stakes with appropriate warnings. The next step is to conduct a technical survey, accurately identify the boundaries of contamination, and further clear the territory.
